Sorry “Lardos” is not a Word

October 21, 2012

It’s been quite a busy week here since our Huffington Post story broke.  Filling orders, interviewing reps and setting up new client accounts.

We have gotten so much positive feedback from this story that it has been awesome.  But as with everything in life, there are the negative “naysayers”.  So here are a few of the  HIGHLY entertaining comments we have been receiving both on the Huffington Post article and through our website.

Comment:  “I think what they said was: “We can make lardos look good for a fifteen minute photo shoot before they pass out from suffocation.” Only $500.”

Reply: Thank you Utgeorge971 for your response.  But I should clarify a few things.  (1) Wow a 15 minute photo shoot would be a dream come true.  Ours often last about 6 hours, mostly because it takes us an hour just to get everyone’s drink order correct.  And no one has passed out yet, at least not due to the compression (2) I’m pretty sure we don’t have any items for $500 — but we will keep you posted for when we do and (3) “lardos” is not a word.  But “clueless” is.  Just saying

Comment: A typical female product. Women are SOOOOOOO paranoid and obsessed with their looks and their bodies. When men get together to play tennis, basketball or golf to they worry about whether they look thin, or fashionable. Do they worry about their shirt rising up or their shorts being too short? If women would stop worrying about dumb stuff like this they would be a lot better off.

Reply: Thanks Gilbert for your response.  You have already been crucified by other comments on the post, but what’s wrong with wanting to look good?  When did wanting to look good become a crime?

The one thing I wish I could have added or changed about the story, was that Smashing really didn’t start with the idea of being “thinner” it began with the idea of “looking better.”  It may seem like a small distinction, but it really is different.

We aren’t women that sit and count calories all day (except prior to our photo shoots), we believe in enjoying life.  We are going to enjoy that martini court side and we are going to eat dessert (after the photo shoot of course).  We also believe in being physically active and want to look the best we can.  I’m a P90X grad and  still don’t think the current tennis/golf outings fit me well.  Smashing was designed to fill a void, and fill it we did.

If you are already a Smashing fan, you understand this.  For those of you that aren’t, we invite you to see what is different about Smashing Golf & Tennis and how it can make you both look and feel good.   Use code NEW30 to get 30% off of your first order.  Go to

Smashing is avail in sizes XS-XL.  Stay tuned — plus sizes coming in future lines.

Yes and to looking good–the clothes for athletic performance weren’t helping women compete at their best. You don’t wear stuff that doesn’t work. Smashing works because it is tolerant of the small things that make a big difference.
